Optik™ Railing System at Ortho Rhode Island – Providence Office

Ortho Rhode Island needed to renovate its Providence office to improve the patient experience. The goal was to create a more spacious and efficient environment while maintaining its commitment to world-class orthopedic care. HDI Railings partnered to deliver a modern, minimalist railing system that matched the upgraded, patient-centered design.

HDI Railings installed the Optik Boss and Optik Shoe systems, adding a clean, contemporary look to the space. The Optik Boss system was side-mounted to steel on the stairs, creating a sleek “floating glass” effect. The system’s stainless steel bosses and minimal hardware kept the view open and unobstructed.

Boosting Durability and Safety

For the walkways, the Optik Shoe system was surface-mounted, with a stainless steel-covered channel supporting the glass panels. Both systems used 9/16” laminated tempered glass with an SGP (SentryGlas® Plus) interlayer. An SGP interlayer  significantly increases the durability and safety of the railings.

SGP is 100 times more rigid and 5 times more tear-resistant than PVB, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic areas. Its weather-resistant properties also allow it to withstand moisture, a critical factor in frameless, laminated glass applications.

The stainless steel and glass railings enhanced safety while providing a minimalist, clean aesthetic that aligned with Ortho Rhode Island’s vision for a patient-centered environment.
