At the center of Wellory’s main lobby, a sweeping curved staircase connects the ground floor to an upper-level lounge. HDI’s Optik™ Boss system was selected to follow the stairs’ arc — delivering a frameless glass design that promotes openness and natural light.
Curved Glass, Engineered for Precision
The staircase required custom curved glass panels — each fabricated in a 9/16” laminated tempered structural interlayer. HDI’s Optik™ Boss hardware holds each curved panel in place while keeping the system visually minimal. The result is a continuous glass line that follows the stairs without interrupting sightlines across the double-height lobby.
Clean Detailing Across a Complex Layout
All components were fabricated in 304 stainless steel with a 240-grain brushed finish. The 1.5” round stainless handrail traces the curve of the glass, maintaining a consistent profile from the ground floor through the upper-level guardrail.
The Optik™ Boss system attaches directly to the steel stringer using custom spacers designed for the curved geometry. HDI conducted 3D scanning on-site to capture exact field conditions before fabrication, eliminating guesswork and reducing the risk of rework during installation.
Sustainability Built Into the System
Wellory targets net-zero energy performance and carries LEED requirements throughout its design. HDI’s railing systems support these goals — our glass panels contain approximately 20% post-industrial recycled content, and our stainless steel components are built for long-term durability with minimal maintenance.
A Lobby That Sets the Tone
The completed installation anchors Wellory’s lobby experience. Residents and visitors encounter the curved glass staircase immediately upon entry — flanked by living moss walls and illuminated architectural panels that reinforce the building’s wellness identity.
Behind the glass, wood treads and a blackened steel stringer add warmth and contrast, while the glass’s transparency preserves the lobby’s sense of volume and light.
