Mays Plastic Surgery & Med Spa in Louisville, KY, wanted to enhance their new facility with a railing system that complemented the modern, elegant design. Specifically, the primary challenge was finding a minimalist solution that didn’t sacrifice safety or functionality. For this reason, the facility, known for offering high-end aesthetic and medical services, needed railings that matched its commitment to precision and care. Undoubtedly, the railings had to seamlessly integrate into the design while meeting safety standards for high-traffic areas.

Railing System: Optik™ Shoe & Boss
Location: Louisville, KY.
Architect: AL Post Inc
Contractor: Kentucky Mirror and Glass

Subsequently, HDI Railings supplied the Optik™ Boss and Optik™ Shoe systems, both known for their minimalist, “floating glass” look. The Optik Shoe system, featuring an aluminum base shoe with powder-coated cladding, was installed on the 2nd-floor balcony.

Elegant Minimalism

The system used laminated, tempered glass infill panels, secured with HDI’s patented disc lock system. The 9/16” thick panels, up to 48 inches wide, provided a transparent, frameless look. Ultimately, this design maintained the open flow of the space while ensuring necessary safety features for the balcony.

Sleek, suspended design

On the staircase, the floating stair treads are accompanied by HDI’s Optik Boss railing system. Powder-coated stainless steel mounts held the glass infill panels securely in place. Side mounts were used to achieve the floating glass effect, which created a sleek, suspended appearance with minimal visible hardware.

This effect aligned perfectly with the Mays Plastic Surgery & Med Spa’s modern and luxurious atmosphere. Particularly, our powder-coating on the handrails, posts, and components blends effortlessly with May’s interior theme.

Create without constraints

HDI’s ability to powder coat railings in various RAL color options ensured that the railing systems perfectly matched the facility’s design. As a result, this customization further enhanced the cohesive look of the space.

In short, the installation resulted in a stunning transformation. Furthermore, HDI’s Optik™ systems seamlessly blend into the contemporary design and enhance both the visual appeal and safety of Mays Plastic Surgery & Med Spa.

Overall, the floating glass aesthetic added a sense of openness and luxury to the balcony and staircase, aligning with the med spa’s brand image of sophisticated care and precision.
