At the heart of UT’s growing medical education campus, the new College of Nursing Building delivers a clean, contemporary learning environment filled with natural light and open connections. Designed by McCarty Holsaple McCarty Architects in partnership with Ayers Saint Gross, the building emphasizes simplicity, visual harmony, and craftsmanship.
Railing System: Konic™ & CIRCUM™ One-Line

To complement that design vision, HDI supplied two railing systems—Konic™ and CIRCUM™ One-Line—across the main stair, second-level balconies, and a college lecture hall.
Balancing Strength and Simplicity
CIRCUM™ One-Line was surface-mounted down the center of the stair and in the lecture rooms, combining sleek design and robust structural support. Konic™ was weld-mounted to the stair stringers and upper balconies, creating a seamless transition between levels.
Visual clarity in railings ensures safety and openness, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality in high-traffic educational spaces.
To preserve visual clarity, the system used 9/16” laminated fingerprint-resistant glass, minimizing glare and smudging while maximizing transparency across rail runs.
A Seamless Final Result
The finished railing system supports the flow of natural light while blending quietly into its architectural surroundings. The railing increases a sense of openness and circulation throughout the building with low-profile posts, crisp glass alignment, and coordinated transitions.
