A significant project was undertaken by AMADA’s Carolina Technical Center in High Point, NC, in 2019-2020. The 62,000 sq ft center is a testament to AMADA’s commitment to resolving manufacturing challenges across North America. This expansive 43-acre campus supports fabricators by providing a collaborative environment where they can work closely with AMADA manufacturing experts. Additionally, the center offers extensive hands-on training through the AMADA School and the AMADA Bending Academy.

Creating a State-of-the-Art Facility

The Carolina Technical Center aimed to create a facility that showcased AMADA’s cutting-edge technologies while providing a modern and aesthetically pleasing environment for training and collaboration. The design needed to reflect AMADA’s innovative spirit and maintain a clean and professional appearance. Thus, the challenge required a solution that was both functional and visually appealing.

Installing the Optik™ Shoe System

To address this challenge, HDI Railings installed the Optik™ Shoe system. This system features an aluminum base shoe with a proprietary glass disc-lock system, stainless steel cladding on two sides, and a stainless steel glass-attached structural U-channel.

Furthermore, the glass infill panels consist of horizontal panels made of 1/2″ thick sandblasted tempered glass with polished edges. Key installation areas included the viewing area balcony, Stair A & balcony, and the lobby stair & ramp.

Consequently, the Optik™ Shoe system provided an unobtrusive look by appearing to be a floating glass system, perfectly realizing AMADA’s vision for a modern, innovative facility.

Achieving a Modern and Innovative Environment

As a result, the seamless, floating glass appearance of the Optik™ Shoe system enhanced the center’s aesthetic appeal and created an inviting and inspiring space for fabricators to learn and collaborate.

This transformation clearly demonstrated AMADA’s commitment to advancing manufacturing knowledge and methods, thereby contributing to the center’s success as a hub for innovation and excellence in sheet metal manufacturing and automation solutions.
