Kaiser Permanente operates one of the nation’s largest integrated healthcare networks, delivering patient-focused medical services through carefully planned facilities. The Antelope Valley Specialty Medical Office Building supports that mission by bringing outpatient care, diagnostics, and specialty services together in a single, efficient environment.

Railing System: Kubit™
Location: Lancaster, CA.
Architect: Taylor Design
Contractor: McCarthy

From the start, Taylor Design shaped the main lobby stair and atrium as a light-filled focal point for the building. HDI partnered with the project team to deliver a railing system that reinforces openness while meeting healthcare-grade safety and performance demands.

Kubit™ for Clean Lines and Confidence

HDI supplied the Kubit™ glass railing system along the main lobby stair and surrounding atrium edges. This central stair acts as a visual anchor within the building, drawing daylight deep into the space and connecting multiple levels at once.

Kubit™ was selected for its slim profile and mechanical glass attachments, which allow the railing to remain visually light while delivering dependable performance. As a result, the guardrail supports the architecture rather than competing with it.

Clean Geometry, Clear Sightlines

The Kubit™ system uses precision-machined posts paired with laminated glass infill to maintain uninterrupted views across the atrium. This approach keeps the stair open and transparent, reinforcing the calm, welcoming atmosphere of the lobby.

Along the stair runs, the glass follows the geometry of the concrete structure with clean alignment and consistent spacing. At landings and upper-level edges, the railing transitions seamlessly, maintaining a unified look throughout the space.

Coordinated for Complex Conditions

By working closely with the design and construction teams, we ensured that the Kubit™ system installed cleanly without field rework. This coordination helped maintain the project schedule and delivered a finished result that feels intentional from every angle.

A Calm, Light-Filled Arrival Experience

With the railing system in place, the main lobby stair and atrium function as intended—open, bright, and easy to navigate. Glass infill allows daylight to pass through the space, while Kubit’s™ durable construction provides the safety required for a healthcare environment.

Together, these elements create a lobby that feels composed and welcoming, setting the tone for the rest of the building.

Why HDI?

HDI designs railing systems that integrate seamlessly, perform consistently, and last. Built with premium materials and engineered precision, our solutions support safety and design without added complexity.
