The campus addition is comprised of five floors that support active learning in science and
engineering beyond standard lecture classrooms. HDI’s Circum Round railings provide critical
holding power connecting each of the five floors, which feature common spaces and balconies
at multiple levels. The $120 million, 165,000 square foot hall consolidates campus engineering
and science programs into one central area featuring world-class research labs, lab-based
learning environments, and a 6,000 square foot Maker’s Space equipped with 3D printers, laser
jet cutting equipment and much more.

HDI’s Circum round post railing system with wood top rail and frosted laminated glass is the
perfect application for this modernist, high traffic learning environment. Manufactured in HDI’s
Pennsylvania based plant the Circum round post railing system is constructed with mechanical
threaded connections to ensure an exact and secure fitting. All railings are fully assembled at
our factory then deconstructed for shipping purposes and fully assembled in sections at the
installation site.

IBC requirements state that laminated glass infill panels must be used on all projects where
there is a walking surface below the guardrail. Ingram Hall’s sleek stair railing installation is
enhanced with frosted laminated glass infill panels. The frosted accenting of the glass infill
delineates the passageway to each of the five floors whilst offering additional benefits.
Laminated glass has sound insulating properties thereby allowing students and faculty to enjoy
quiet learning environments from floor to floor. It also provides a level of privacy required in an
environment such as this. Sustainably sourced wood top rail complements the Circum round
post railing system. Sustainable building materials contribute to LEED construction certification
at Ingram Hall.
